THE WAIT  - 1964/65

Paints, fiberglass and flocks, furniture, bones, clothing, photographs, live bird.

“The Wait” is a portrait of a very old woman imminently close to death. Crippled life is all she has left. Clouded memories remain (the necklace of glass jars containing golden remembrances). Feeble activity consumes her time (needlework). Friends and relatives have long since departed or abandoned her. In constant pain, she tenaciously clings to each moment (the cat), terrified of the inevitable unknown.
